Choice Projects

In each grade level I leave the last project of the quarter as a "choice". Students get to choose the concept, their inspiration, the medium they would like to use, and the principles and elements they want to focus on. The stipulations is that they need to plan for this project to take them 2 weeks. I am looking forward to posting pictures of the artwork!

Color Splash Selfie

Students combined technology with hands-on art making for this project. They set up two projectors which cast different colors on to their faces as a friend took close up pictures of them. Out of the given photos, students chose their favorite composition and cropped it to their liking. Using a grid method students drew the outline of their portraits with pencil. The vibrant colors cast on their faces required a medium that would create just as vibrant of a color. The students used high-quality oil pastels to create this look. I received a lot of support from a teacher who pinned this project for his high schoolers, his name is Bradley Scherzer.

Spring Semester at MRMS

This is my 2nd year at Mountain Ridge Middle school, and I couldn't be happier with my job! It is an amazing thing to work with kids and this age specifically is a wonderful time to helpkids find their passions for the arts! I will post pictures of projects, art shows, and classroom happenings!
